Volunteer Information

This site aims to provide a "Live Score" facility from EIHL games for the UK ice hockey community, similar to the old Iceweb site.

As there is no official score site, this site has been designed and set up. We are currently able to provide live coverage from many of the Elite League venues, but need more volunteers to help us extend this service to the other EIHL venues. This will be to the benefit of the entire UK ice hockey community. The section below aims to answer any questions you may have.

Who could volunteer?

Anyone who attends EIHL games would be a great volunteer. It doesn't matter if you can't get to every game, or can't travel to away games, every little will help. Even if you only think you will be able to cover one game, you will still be invaluable! We especially need volunteers from Nottingham, Edinburgh, Fife, Braehead and Dundee.

What do I need?

In order to enter live score data onto this site, you need to have a mobile phone or PDA with an internet / WAP browser and some form of internet connection (WiFi or via a mobile network). Most modern mobile phone models have these features. If you aren't sure if you have the necessary equipment then contact us!

What is involved?

We will be happy to provide more information to anyone who is interested, but to enter live data about a game you would :

Does it cost anything?

We are still determining the final cost, but only very small amounts of data are transferred to and from your phone while updating. In many cases this may be covered entirely by any free or bundled internet data capacity you are given as part of a contract. Even if you pay for internet data transfers, we currently estimate that updating for each game costs around 10-20 pence in data transfer fees.

Does it take long / Will it distract me from the game?

No. At the simplest level, entering goal and penalty details only takes a matter of seconds. As you enter them immediately after they happen, play in the game has stopped, so you miss nothing!

I'm not sure...

If you're not sure about something, contact us! Even if you don't know if you will be able to help, get in touch! If you consider that there can be a maximum of five EIHL games being played at any one time, with only a handful of volunteers we can provide complete coverage of all the games!
